There’s a rising surge in the number of record labels in Nigeria and it’s not stopping anytime soon.
While fans are still warming up to the idea of Lil Kesh floating his YAGIRecords and the possibility of Adekunle Gold setting up GoldRecords, two more labels have joined the party.
For a while, Ice Prince has been planting the name of his record company ‘Super Cool Cats’ in our consciousness and now it’s official. He’s no longer under contract with Choc City and his label has already kicked off with the release of his new song, ‘Chike‘.
Following in his footsteps is former label mate, Jesse Jagz, who is set to officially announce the launch of his Jagz NationRecords label in a few days.
In 2012, MI Abaga floated his Loopy Records label that
led to the speculation that he has parted ways with Choc City.
Loopy Records however merged with Choc City in 2015 and MI Abaga became
the CEO of the combined label.
