British singer, Ed Sheeran has made his social media comeback after a year-long break.
The plain blue square he shared on his Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts has gathered about 300,000 likes, 8,000 shares, more than 40,000 comments, and millions of impressions globally.
‘Hello all. I am taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while,’ he had written on his social media pages on December 12, 2015.
‘I’ve had such an amazing ride over the last 5 years but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes, so I’m taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed.’
The singer added, ‘To my family and friends, if you love me, you will understand me buggering off for a bit, to my fans, the 3rd album is on its way and is the best thing I have made thus far. See you all next autumn, and thank you for being amazing.’
Fans now consider Sheeran’s forthcoming third studio album to be announced in January as a result of his comeback.
His last album, x (pronounced ‘multiply’), was released on June 23, 2014 and his single from x, ‘Thinking Out Loud’, earned him two Grammy Awards in 2016 for ‘Song of the Year’ and ‘Best Pop Solo Performance’.
In May 2016, x was named the second best selling album worldwide in 2015, behind 25 by Adele.
