Omarion’s new album Reasons should have dropped today. His second full-length LP under MMG and follow-up to 2014’s Sex Playlist was sadly nowhere to be found. Instead of leaving his fans empty-handed, Maybach O comes through with a cover of Earth, Wind & Fire’s 1975 classic “Reasons.” Watch the R&B singer give his own personal twist to the love ballad from 42 years ago.
Earth, Wind, and Fire’s “Reasons” is one of the finest songs in all of recorded music. Philip Bailey’s perfect falsetto is a model for technical control and ability, but when he gives himself over to the emotion of the song three-quarters in—that’s what people mean when they talk about soul.
