Lil Uzi Vert would be collaborating with
one of the biggest artists in the world, but here we are. The ubiquity
of “XO Tour Life” helped elevate the young rapper’s plateau, allowing
him to announce a surprise drop of Luv Is Rage 2 with considerable hype
in tow. Ultimately, Uzi’s rockstar persona and original variant on
hip-hop played a large role in bringing him to a point where his album.
The Weeknd has all but dominated the
“rnb” scene, though I’d be hard pressed to describe Abel’s magic as
“rnb.” In reality, his haunting blend of ominous production and wistful
romance have managed to pioneer a subgenre, which in turn influenced an
entire generation of young artists. There are certainly elements of said
production on “UnFazed,” with reverse delay swells and a melancholic
piano arpeggio, but the track’s vibe is more hedonistic than reflective.
