The singer doesn’t provide any information as to the song’s origins or eventual landing. We saw the PARTYNEXTDOOR feature on “His Name is Cassius” channel his ATL counterpart’s sound, but on “Break Me Down” we get a more typical PND sound, sort of — even at that, he forays into new experiments with his flows and vocals. At one point, he sounds eerily similar to Young Thug, with a series of not-necessarily-intelligible lyrics. Instead he seems to focus more on creating short bursts of words, incomplete sentences, ad-lib-like, over the soft, barely-there production. The beat swoons in the background with touches of shuttering closed hi-hats over the course of the five minutes plus record. Take a listen and let us know what you think — see if you can catch all the name-dropping, from Kehlani, to Kylie, to Drake.
OVO Sound announced at the beginning of August that most, or all, of its signees have albums on the way, this includes Party, Roy Wood$ (Say Less), Majid Jordan (The Space Between), and DVSN (The Morning After). PND’s album is titled Club Atlantis, but no release date has been revealed yet. Out of that batch of OVO singers, whose album are you most excited for? Sound off in the comments. If we’re basing it off album titles alone, I think PND might have the strongest title. But Roy Wood$ for the win.
