Apple has unveiled new smart battery cases for the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and the Pro Max and they cost $129 regardless of the one you are purchasing. The new cases are similar to last year’s own but comes with a bigger camera cutout as expected. They support wireless charging and Apple says one can expect “up to 50 percent” extra battery life using the cases.
This year’s cases adds new functionality, there is a button on the right edge that opens the iPhone’s camera immediately when pressed even when the iPhone is locked. Holding the physical button down will start recording a video with the help of the QuickTake functionality which was added to the iPhone 11 series.
The new smart battery cases are available in black, white and pink colours. The case charges the iPhone until it has no power left after which the iPhone switches to its already long-lasting battery. The battery level for the smart cases can be seen in the iOS battery widget on the iPhone.
The new iPhone battery cases are Qi-certified which makes it possible to charge both the case and your iPhone with a wireless charger. They can be purchased on Apple’s website.
