  • Nigerians lash out at rapper, Wale for his reaction to Wizkid’s international breakthrough

  • Wizkid and Wale

American rapper Wale might have gotten himself into a little trouble with Nigerians over a comment he made about Wizkid.

Yesterday, popular lyrics website, Genius tweeted that Wizkid has become the first Nigerian artiste to make the Billboard Hot 100 chart and Wale had a slightly questionable reaction to that report: he replied with a thinking face emoji.

    🤔

Although to many Nigerian who follow the MMG rapper on Twitter, he shouldn’t fully identify as ‘a Nigerian artiste’.

‘Don’t claim being Nigerian now because Wizkid popping now and you aren’t Lmao’ one Tweeter user said, another added, ‘Show us your naija passport first’.

Although Wale has proven on countless occasions that he’s proud of his heritage, to further prove this – he even attended popular OAP, Toolz wedding during his visit to Lagos.

@Wale Neguh don't claim being Nigerian now because WizKid popping now and you aren't lmao
